Sometimes all you need is a bit of fun – and it doesn’t get much more fun than retro-gaming.
The good people over at FMTwo Game have launched a new product called the Gameband. This is a smartwatch device that will let you play some of the coolest games ever created on the Gameband’s Android-based OS.
Atari and Terraria are collaborating with FMTwo and adding 20 mini-games to the band. Pong, Asteroids and Centipede are just a few of the games that will be available.
The watch has a 1.63-inch AMOLED display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Wear 2100 processor.
It will also offer Wi-Fi, an upgradable MicroSD drive and Bluetooth. In terms of design, there are a number of different colors and straps available, including game-themed straps.
They launched a Kickstarter page earlier in February where you can buy one of the watches for $99. The actual retail price will be closer to $199.
Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari, said: “Atari created video games and arcade gaming, and later pioneered the rise of consoles by bringing arcade gaming into the living room. It’s exciting to now bring gaming to another frontier, wearables, with Gameband Atari Edition.”
